How we began: Smyrna Baptist church was organized on the first Sunday of June 1869 by Reverend Jacob Ziegler. Born in virginia on June 3, 1925 he eventually moved to Texas and was licensed and ordained at Quitman accepting the pastorate at Smyrna. Having 18 charer members, the church building began. The land site was donated by John Bailey, a local owner of a saw mill.  The first church was a two sory structure that was used for church servie adn various school, lodge and community meetings.  Smyrna Church would build three more buildings, finally building our current one with the fellowship hall being constructed in 1984 adn the additional Sunday School rooms in 1997.

Who we are today:  Today we are a loving church body with a wide range of mnistries and activities. Our prayer is that you will find your place with us and that we are able to meet yoru needs and grow together in Christ. smyran Baptist is a ministry outreach church that supports missionaries around the world and missions in our oru wn neighborhood. We encouraeg our members to bcome active in church, community adn workplace ministries. Come grow with us and be a part of this family of God.
